Beyond the Oakland Hills lies Contra Costa County, the third largest county in the San Francisco Bay Region.  It derives it's name from the Spanish term meaning"Opposite Coast" referring to its location to San Francisco.

Contra Costa is bordered on three sides by water and encompasses several recreational reservoirs.  Water sports such as boating, fishing, sailing, swimming, water skiing and windsurfing are easily available.
